The suburb of Rochedale South is a northern residential suburb of the Logan City Council. It is situated approximately nineteen kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD. It is surrounded by the neighbouring suburbs of Rochedale, Burbank, Underwood, Priestdale, and Springwood. Many main roads run through or border the suburb of Rochedale South. These include the Pacific Motorway, Underwood Road, Rochedale Road, Springwood Road, Priestdale Road, Glengala Drive, Paffrey Road, Dorset Drive, and more. Originally, Rochedale and Rochedale South were one big suburb and was named Rochedale, but they split off each other in 1979.

With the Pacific Motorway bordering the western boundary and with the Gateway Motorway in close proximity, getting to and from the suburb is very easy and unproblematic. It is approximately a fifteen minute drive into the Brisbane City, a thirty five minute drive into Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, and a twenty minute drive to the Brisbane Airport depending on traffic. Although Rochedale South has its own shopping precincts such as the Rochedale Shopping Village that opened in 1970, it is only a short drive away from the major shopping precinct, Westfield Garden City Shopping Centre and Loganholme. As well as being close to everything, there is a great public transportation system in Rochedale South. The closest major bus depots are in the neighbouring suburbs of Springwood and Eight Mile Plains, although the suburb is serviced by other less major bus routes. There are no railway lines within the area, however the closest train station is a short four kilometres west in the neighbouring suburb of Kuraby.
