Though it’s in an area of just 2.8 square kilometres, Macgregor has several parks of its own. Atop this list is the D.M. Henderson Park which was developed starting in 1973?74. It is set in the lush environs of the Bulimba Creek and its Mimosa Creek tributary nestled amidst MacGregor’s acreage. Joined to other linear parks along these wetlands, this community park offers various facilities, including a fitness station, trail network, and off-leash dog area to name a few.  

The 200-hectare Toohey Forest Conservation Park in Mount Gravatt north of MacGregor further provides nature trails and bike tracks. The facilities of the Queen Elizabeth II Track Club across the northwest quadrant of Kessels Road and Mains Road further broaden the sports and recreational options available to MacGregor residents.

 

Thriving Commercial Properties

The vibrant population growth in MacGregor and its neighboring suburbs over the years has created a consumer market that made viable major local commercial real estate developments. Amongst these is the sprawling Whitfield Garden City Shopping Centre constructed just across the eastern boundary of MacGregor. In addition, two commercial-industrial and showroom complexes were successively built in 1988 and 2000 along Kessels Road traversing the northern tip of MacGregor. Employment Center

Eastwards of McCullough Street and the Pacific Motorway, a major employment center, the 33-hectare Brisbane Technology Park, is just a short distance away and easily accessible from MacGregor. Touted as home to more than 100 companies, this park takes pride in being the largest business park in Queensland.

The vital presence of commercial business hubs and major schools of learning in and around MacGregor has resulted in this suburb drawing residents of a multicultural composition. Statistics show that 48.1 percent of people living in MacGregor were born outside Australia, which compares with the national average of 31.2 percent. Foreign nationals living in MacGregor include those from China, Taiwan and India.

Most residences in MacGregor are one- and two-storey beige brick houses with tiled roofs.
